Pure Water Not Necessary On Tap
(From the October 25th edition of the Las Vegas Penny Press)
I don’t know of a reasonable, intelligent person that drinks tap water.
Most people I know aren’t drinking enough water. That’s because most
of them associate drinking water with that stuff that comes out of the tap.
They assume that tap water is as good as bottled water.
And they would be wrong.
Just as wrong as the media is on this matter.
You see, you have cleaner water on tap. It has been filtered to meet
federal guidelines. Of course, those guidelines allow a lot of things to be in
that glass of water. Did you know there are federal guidelines for acceptable
levels of dissolved toilet tissue in your tap water? That alone should
make you think.
But look at what the government allows to be added to your water.
Fluoride is a toxic chemical. There’s a warning on your toothpaste to
that effect. Research (disputed by the gubmint, of course) shows fluoride
can weaken bone strength, damage the brain, reduce thyroid function, and
possibly cause bone cancer in some people.
And you should be drinking that?
Would you like a nice cup of bleach? Water treatment plants, just like
swimming pools, use significant amount of Chlorine to kill off bacteria and
microbes in the water. Funny, it’ll do the same thing to you.
But the media doesn’t seem to care about those factors.
They prefer to attack people who bottle purified water under the guise
of “tap water’s clean enough”.
I’ll bet you the same people griping about bottled water are drinking
it!
Flashback: 1982. I was working at a suburban Dallas radio station and
just sick as a dog. I kept trying to drink tap water, and couldn’t keep it
down. Finally someone at the station suggested that I pick up some filtered
bottled water. I drank nearly a half gallon of cold filtered water and within
hours felt significantly better.
I learned over the nest few years how messed up and polluted our “clean
tap water” really was. In the 90’s I discovered Reverse Osmosis water treatment
systems and was amazed at the clean pure taste. In the little town of
White Springs Florida the water was disgustingly hard and contained trace
amounts of industrial pollutants. There was a significant instance of kidney
stones in the local population, caused in no small part by the tap water.
Once residents began using purified water, the incidents decreased.
When I moved to Las Vegas in 1996, I discovered a relatively new
phenomenon that the media has tried to ignore: the clean water store.
Operating under a variety of names, these businesses operate huge multistage
filtration systems to provide consumers the cleanest water imaginable
at a fraction of the price they could buy it in stores or have it delivered to
their homes.
To this day, I still use purified water and have been healthier than I was
in my youth.
These suggestions were passed on to me by my mentor, the late Don
Lemmon.
1) Consume at least one gallon of fully purified water each day. Your
body is predominantly water and must be replenished.
2) Avoid tap water. The benefits of the micronutirents that may have
survived the government purification process are far outweighed by the
toxins used by the government to “purify” the water.
3) Use a shower filter. You absorb more chlorine through skin and air
during the shower than though drinking.
4) Coffee, tea, and soda are not water! In fact that Big Gulp Mountain
Dew counts against your water consumption. Caffeine is a diuretic and
takes water out of your system.
5)Drink water as cold as possible for maximum benefit to your system,
but not during meals.
It’s hard to believe that something as simple as water has so much
controversy and drama attached to it, but like virtually everything the gubmint
gets involved in, lies and fabrications become the order of the day.
Pure water is important to your body, and without it, living is no longer an
option.
Side note: The weekend windstorms caused us a minor power outage
where I work. It caused all kinds of havoc. In fact, one couple was trapped
between floors for nearly 20 minutes until security could get there and walk
them back down the escalator.
