Immigration and Border Enforcement works!

China continues it's attack on America

If that was a headline for Tuesday's breaking story on the massive recall of nearly 9 million toys by Mattel, Americans might pay attention. It should be a wake up call. Sadly, it's not.

Already since this paper was published last, three massive recalls of Chinese goods are threatening the health and safety of not only the general public, but the health of our economy.

As I've detailed at dollarsenseradio.com, there's been a huge recall of Chinese made tires, Chinese made toys, and more Chinese made toothpaste containing a deadly ingredient found in anti-freeze that can destroy your liver and kidneys in a painful, agonizing fashion.

It's being kept pretty much under the mainstream media radar thanks to the influence of big bidness who fears massive retribution from the Chinese government. Pat Choate in the August 9th edition of the Las Vegas Penny Press documented China's ability to wreak havoc on our markets at will.

He also noted the ability of the US to do the same. If we dared.

What the hell. I only write a newspaper column and host a little radio show. But I'm willing to do my part.

I propose that all Americans strike against the Chinese in the only way they can understand. In their pocketbook.

I propose that all Americans purchase NOTHING made in China for a one week period, from September 4th through the 10th. Symbolically that falls between a holiday and a commemoration.

The holiday is faint, hollow recognition these days. Labor Day is more "Summer's Last Hurrah" than what it was originally, a day to salute the American worker and how his efforts have made this country great.

Too many of those workers have seen their jobs exported overseas.

The commemoration of the only recognized successful foreign attack on American Soil is also appropriate. The Chinese are attacking us where we live. In our supermarkets, in our general stores, even our car parts stores.

Until we stand up and say HELL NO!, China will continue to flood our markets with substandard crap. Our government won't do anything about it until it's too late.

One more thing to remember in November.

Good news from the government.

Border agents detained nearly 56 thousand illegal immigrants between October and June. That's down 38 percent from a year earlier.

Increased security has migrants not even bothering to try. Interviews conducted with Mexicans in Mexico say it's no longer worth it. But get this excuse.

"It's the discrimination. It's too much of a risk. It's better to be out here" according to 28 year old George Guevara, interviewed in Tijuana by the Associated Press where he was deported to in July after living in the US for 18 years.

But the Bush Administration is getting ready to make another push toward the "See, see, we told you we needed illegals" camp. Washington state governor Chris Grecoire said crops are rotting in the field due to lack of workers. The president himself says "Pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying 'Man we're running out of workers.'"

Mr. President, if you didn't make it easier to import our food than grow it here, to allow China for years to flood our markets with cheap goods made by slave labor, our farmers wouldn't need illegal labor. We could have good paying jobs in agriculture without the gouging by the big agribusiness conglomerates.

Or at least import the labor like our hotels are, legally.

Over the past few weeks I've discovered that one of the big players on the strip is importing laborers from Russia. I discovered this when a number of them filled out applications seeking second jobs at low wages to supplement their income they're being paid by their primary employer.

In talking with them, they seem well educated, bright, and willing to work a lot to send money back to their families in Mother Russia.

Does this sound familiar?

Could the former Soviet Union have discovered the golden goose of remittances? They always are short of currency, and exports from Russia have pretty much been limited to Borscht and Vodka. But they have people. Disgruntled people. People who want more than Russia can provide.

Why not duplicate the success of Mexico and import your laborers to the highest bidder. Which isn't much, but these people are used to a spartan lifestyle.

Not to sound sinister, but my only question: Who do they REALLY work for? Themselves? Or Putin?

I don't know the answer yet, but I think I'll try to get more answers.
