A Little about a lot....

Scattershooting while wondering if Mayor Goodman will switch to Guzzlers Gin in honor of Red Skelton...
In case you missed the story, it looks like a significant amount of money may have been misappropriated at both the Palm Beach and Fresno Convention and Visitors Bureaus. In the case of Fresno, egregiously so, with cashed checks in the $4000 to $5000 range and corporate credit card charges at Starbucks, Victoria’s Secret, and other clothing outlets. One charge at Target was in excess of $9000! What’s worse is that the Fresno CVB is stonewalling the local newspaper’s requests for records under the California Public Records Act. Not looking good there.
These reports should make opponents of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority cringe. The LVCVA may not have the sharpest knives in the drawer in charge, but the outright theft and dishonesty going on at these other CVB’s is yet to be matched here in Las Vegas. In a town like Las Vegas, you’d think the job would be simple: Coordinate publicity activities between the major properties, give them a central clearinghouse, and keep the city’s name in the media in a positive light. I know it’s not as easy as it sounds, particularly since most of the properties in town couldn’t agree on what to have for lunch. Still, we’ll keep our eyes open.

In what some might label the “Consider the Source” department, Alex Jones’ Prisonnation.com web site claims the reason for the delayed police response to the Virginia Tech shooting is that local authorities were told by unnamed federal officials to await the arrival of FBI representatives to begin operations. Whether accurate or not, the two
hour delay in locking down and sealing off the campus certainly could be contributory to the deaths in the second spree of shootings and should be litigated! “Lawsuits are ‘a comin.....”
By the way, the anti-skeptics who want to claim that the collapse of a section of freeway in Oakland due to a tanker truck catching fire proves that there was no conspiracy in the WTC collapse are wrong again. If nothing else, it fails to sustain their case, as the freeway didn’t collapse evenly. Now I’m not gonna stand on either side of this fence, but the direct drop down of the building sure looks suspicious to me. I believe that there are dozens of demolition companies that wish they could have had their projects fall as nicely and neatly as the WTC towers did.
In my opinion, if the attacks on the WTC happened without any “help”, the building should have collapsed to one side or the other, not straight down the center.

If you need more reason as to why they keep coming, a poll published in Monday’s El Universal in Mexico reveals 45% of the 1000 people interviewed claimed at least one relative in the USA, and a third of those people were getting money from the USA! The numbers are staggering. $23 billion in CASH exported to Mexico in 2006 from some 11 million legal and illegal immigrants. That’s over $2,000 each, and is more money flowing into Mexico than even tourism, second only to oil exports. Is there any wonder now that the Mexican government not only staunchly defends the rights of it’s citizens to come into this country without benefit of official government action, all the while defending it’s own borders against South Americans attempting to immigrate to Mexico! If you could get $2000 per year per head shipped to you annually for every person shipped out of the country you’d be helping them get out too! One of these days I’ll share with you the story of the illustrated book published by the Mexican Government on how to make the crossing into America...
...and how DID “May Day”, a holiday designed to celebrate Labor, get brought into the Illegal Immigration debate?
Here’s a novel idea...instead of illegal immigrants trying to open our system up, why not rally support in Mexico to create the jobs there at home! Fix your country first! We try to impress that message on OUR government here. Not that they listen.

The war of words between the President and Harry Reid continues to escalate. I believe that their war of words can only be solved by one man, and his name is Vincent Kennedy McMahon. The WWE honcho could make a fortune and put a huge dent in the national debt by booking Political Armageddon 2007. Imagine this line-up:
President Bush-seconded by John Bradshaw Layfield- Vs. Harry Reid -seconded y Mick Foley - in Hell in the Cell 2007.
Dick Cheney versus John Murtha in a shotgun on a pole match. The winner is the first one to fire a round into their opponent’s behind with the shotgun. In the interests of safety the buckshot will be replace with Rock Salt.
Condolesa Rice versus Hillary Clinton versus Nancy Pelosi in a three-way environmentally friendly no Trans Fat Soybean Oil wrestling match, a contest that everyone will claim to win but no one on any level will....
Tony Snow versus George Stephanopolis in a first truth match. First one to actually be able to recite his talking points with a straight face wins.

Wal-Mart’s announcement last week that they were going to open 400 health clinics inside their super centers is troubling. Yes, they’re going to partner with local hospitals rather than nationalizing it, but in my mind it puts that “what’s next” spin on it. That wonderful political pundit Larry the Cable guy suspects that Wedding Chapels might be next. Isn’t the return line long enough as it is?
